IPHS President’s Letter September 2018

IPHS President’s Welcome

Welcome to the website of the 19th International Planning History Society (IPHS) Conference. The IPHS Council welcomes the opportunity to hold its biennial conference for the first time in Moscow. On behalf of the Council I extend our thanks to the Conference Convenor, Professor Alexey Krasheninnikov, and to colleagues who are assisting him, as well as to the institutions and organisations who are providing support for the conference.

Professor Krasheninnikov and his team are preparing an exciting program of keynote speakers, parallel paper and panel sessions, field trips and social events. In addition to contributing and hearing papers focused on the conference theme, ‘City Space Transformation: Renovation of the Urban Environment’, the program will allow delegates to learn about Russia’s planning and architectural history and to experience aspects of Moscow’s built environment, as well as of its social and cultural life.

I encourage IPHS members (current and new) to submit papers to the conference and I look forward to welcoming members and all other participants to our conference in Moscow in July 2020!
